The Special Study in Mathematics Education B discusses and considers recent practical and theoretical research theme on secondary schoool mathematics curriculum to have the required knowledge and ability to planning mathematics lessons in secondary school level for improving the quality of mathematics education. 
Class Schedule Lesson 1: Planning Mathematics Lessons from Japanese perspective
Students understand planning mathematical lessons through reading and analyzing reaesrch papers in Japan.
Lesson 2: Planning Mathematics Lessons from international perspective
Students understand planning mathematical lessons through reading and analyzing international reaesrch papers.
Lesson 3: Theoretical research on planning mathematical lessons in junior high school
Students proceed to theoretical research on planning mathematical lessons in junior high school.
Lesson 4: Theoretical research on planning mathematical lessons in senior high school
Students proceed to theoretical research on planning mathematical lessons in senior high school.
Lesson 5: Mathematical lessons of "Number and Expression" in junior high school
Students think about mathematics lesson plans for teaching topics in the area of "Number and Expression" in junior high school.

Lesson 15: Improvement of mathematics education in secondary school level
Students identify the issues to be addressed and propose a plan for improving the quality of mathematics education in Japan.

For lesson 1 through 4, collect previous theoretical and practical studies on planning mathematical lessons and read them carefully.
For lesson 5 through 8, think about mathematics lesson plans for teaching topics in the area of  junior high school.mathematics.
For lesson 9 through 12, think about mathematics lesson plans for teaching topics in the area of  senior high school.mathematics.
For lesson 13 through 15, identify the issues to be addressed and propose a plan for improving the quality of mathematics education in Japan. 
Requirements This Special Study is required for Teacher' License for Mathematics in Secondary School level.
Students of Educational Design for Teacher Educators Program (Mathematics Education Major) 
Grading Method Students to be assessed by report assignments (80%) and final examination (20%).
