1) Understand the social context of the progress of modern technologies in nineteenth-century British society.
2) Describe how the progress of modern technologies influences on the people's lives in nineteenth-century British society.

Students are expected to discuss the impact of modern technologies on society from the standpoint of sociology. It is important for students to read the required chapters well in advance of each class. 
Requirements The course has no specific prerequisites.  
Grading Method Term papers and regular class participation are essential for this class.
