Class Objectives /Class Outline |
The objective of this class is to comprehend the complex human motor control systems. The human body is a mechanically complex system composed of multiple segments and joints that are controlled by neural systems such as the brain and spinal cord. Throughout this lecture, students are expected to learn about: 1) the physical characteristics of the human body, 2) neural circuits involved in motor control, and 3) mathematical models of human motor control. |
Class Schedule |
Lesson 1: Guidance (Kato) Lesson 2: Reaching and Writing Movements (Kato) Lesson 3: Joint Impedance 1 (Kato) Lesson 4: Joint Impedance 2 (Kato) Lesson 5: Neuronal Function for Multi-joint Movements 1 (Kato) Lesson 6: Neuronal Function for Multi-joint Movements 2 (Kato) Lesson 7: Delays in Sensory-motor System (Kato) Lesson 8: Reading 1 (Shinya) Lesson 9: Reading 2 (Shinya) Lesson 10: Reading 3 (Shinya) Lesson 11: Reading 4 (Shinya) Lesson 12: Reading 5 (Shinya) Lesson 13: Reading 6 (Shinya) Lesson 14: Reading 7 (Shinya) Lesson 15: Summary |
Text/Reference Books,etc. |
PowerPoint handouts can be downloaded from Bb9, or references will be introduced. In Shinya's classes, students will be asked to pick up a textbook chapter and make a presentation. Examples of textbooks: Principles of Neural Sciences (Kandel), Human Motor Control (Rosenbaum), and Biological Learning and Control (Shadmehr). Students can copy a chapter, so they do not need to buy the textbooks. |
