On Tuesdays, you consider approaches to second language learning in practice with specific reference to vocabulary studies, you develop an appreciation of vocabulary testing.  On Fridays, you improve conceptual understanding of research designs in experimental phonetics and phonology, practice measurement methods such as Praat, and critically review interdisciplinary studies.

As a product of the course, you will be able to review and evaluate published work, and design an experiment related to the spoken language. You cover a broad range of topics, with the module intending to provide foundational understanding of experimental linguistics in relation to second language learning, production, and perception.
