Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Remote sensing is a measurement method that utilizes the properties of materials that reflect and absorb light. In this class, I will give lectures on the basics of remote sensing related to earth monitoring and its application to social sciences. The second half of each class is devoted to exercises, in which remote sensing data are used practically to deepen understanding.
Class Schedule lesson1  Fundamentals of remote sensing 1
lesson2  Exercise 1: basic exercise 1
lesson3  Fundamentals of remote sensing 2
lesson4  Exercise 2: basic exercise 2
lesson5  Remote sensing of artificial night light
lesson6  Exercise 3: artificial night light and economic strength
lesson7  Ecosystem remote sensing
lesson8  Exercise 4: global vegetation distribution
lesson9  Remote sensing of land cover
lesson10 Exercise 5: land cover changes
lesson11 Remote sensing of rainfall
lesson12 Exercise 6: drought and floods in the world
lesson13 Fire remote sensing
lesson14 Exercise 7: large-scale fire damages
lesson15 Remote Sensing of Atmospheric Substances I: Ozone and
              Aerosol
Exercise 8: current state of air pollution
