Develop the ability to describe student’s research in persuasive academic writing. Develop the ability to give oral presentations on student’s research in Japanese. |

Lesson1 Orientation, What is a thesis? Lesson2 Paragraph writing. Lesson3 Explain the current state of the problem, Mention examples of particular interest in the situation. Lesson4 Presenting questions and inferences. Mention that research is essential. Lesson5 Oral introduction to the research area. Lesson6 Overall characterization of previous research. Lesson7 Indicates that previous research is insufficient. State the research problem. Lesson8 State the research question. Lesson9 Peer review of the introduction. Lesson10 Selecting the research methods. Lesson11 Selecting the analysis methods. Lesson12 Discuss the validity of the research methodology. Lesson13 Statement of hypothesis. Lesson14 Visualizing the evidence. Lesson15 Final presentation at the end of the term.
After each class, there will be an assignment, a final presentation, and a final assignment at the end of the term. |

This subject is only open to international students who are currently doing research or are about to start research and have the objective of presenting a paper or academic presentation in Japanese. |
Grading Method |
10% in-class discussion, 20% on each assignment, 30% on the end-of-term presentation, and 40% on the end-of-term assignment |
