This class will explore a variety of topics fundamental to the field of psychology, with an emphasis on understanding the basic experiments that contributed to our current state of knowledge.  Students will develop critical thinking skills in English, through discussion, presentation, and in-depth analysis of experiments.  Topics can change depending on student interest.

Students should prepare before class by doing background reading.  Discussions will be an important part of the class.  Students can prepare for discussions by preparing questions they would like to ask in advance, and by practicing putting their opinions into words.  Students should look carefully at the details of experiments, and decide for themselves whether the conclusions are justified by the data.
