Class Objectives /Class Outline |
This course deals with the cultural exchange of Chinese characters between Japan and China during the Muromachi period in Japanese history. The class will understand the situations in which the Gozan system was adopted and what kind of texts were produced and written in the Chinese writing style. In the class, literary materials created in characteristic scenes symbolizing the Gozan will be introduced and explained. Then, themes based on the materials will be set and discussed in each group to deepen students' understanding of the culture of Chinese characters. |
