<Course Description>
Students will work through the research process through this seminar, developing a research plan, writing an ethics protocol, interpreting the results of data analysis, and writing a thesis.

<Objectives>
By completion of this seminar, students will be able to
1. proceed research steps on the chosen research theme,
2. discuss and proceed these steps;
  - research subjects
  - research design
  - calculate sample size
  - primary endpoint and related outcomes
  - methods and measurements, statistical methods, analysis
  - examination and evaluation of outcome data
3. critique academic journal papers
4. prepare to write an academic journal paper
5. critique and advise other students on their research.

Through seminar, students will develop a research plan and ethics IRB protocol, and write a thesis.

In a seminar style, each student will discuss the research methodology, deepen on it, present it in turn, and discuss it. Master's students may also participate upon request.

Requirements For English-speaking students, classes will be provided in English. For Japanese-speaking students, class will be provided in Japanese at a separate time.
Distance students will participate via online (teams).
