Class Objectives /Class Outline |
This course is intended for graduate students to inform the application or practice of research in health science to address the public health issues.
The overall objectives of the course for students are to: 1. Accurately describe the fundamental concepts and approaches in qualitative and quantitative research methodology 2. Identify how moral, ethical, cultural, social, political and environmental issues and responsibilities impact on research. 3. Critically review and critique the literature using valid resources, and thereby provide informed opinion. 4. Demonstrate skills in critical thinking by accurately synthesizing new research results in science/health. 5. Apply introductory descriptive and inferential statistical concepts and techniques in the analysis of data.
Specific course objectives: After successful completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Define the principles of research in health science to enhance the public health problems. 2. Illustrate the association with the exposure and risk factors in health science. 3. Describe the different types of research methodology involved in health science. 4. Evaluate the implications of research methodologies on evidence based practice and their impact on clinical practice and policy. 5. Demonstrate skills consistent with lifelong learning. |

Message |
Research in health science provides the basics and advance for understanding and explaining how research helps us to make decisions about health standards, health policy and regulations, and health programs. So, students are required to understand the potential significance and impact of research in health science as well as in public health problems. |
