Statistical software JMP of Hiroshima University version will be used.

In the lectures and JMP workshops, we will cover the following topics. You will engage in hands-on activities, conducting analysis using sample data and practicing summarizing the results for research papers.
Lesson 1: medical research, basic JMP operations, data importation, mean, median, standard deviation, interquartile range, cross-tabulation, p-values, principles of hypothesis testing.
Lesson 2: Paired or un-paired data, t-tests, Wilcoxon signed-rank test (Mann-Whitney U test), paired t-tests, chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, Type I and Type II errors, multiple comparison, analysis of variance (ANOVA), post-hoc tests.
Lesson 3: Scatter plots, correlation and association, correlation coefficient, simple linear regression analysis, absolute precision, sample size determination for estimation, power analysis, sample size determination for between-group comparisons (hypothesis testing).
Lesson 4: Time-to-event data, survival analysis, Kaplan-Meier curves, log-rank test, questionnaire form, confounding, adjusted odds ratio, logistic regression analysis.
Requirements Bring your notebook PC.(Mac or Win). Active participation is required.
