This course is one of the elective subjects in the category of "Sustainable Development Courses" for Common Graduate Courses. This category of courses aims to provide opportunities for students to understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set by an international agreement. It also aims to equip students with the ability to advance science to enable sustainable development and the ability to solve various challenges in society.

This seminar is to discus about socio-economic problems of rural area in Hiroshima Prefecture from viewpoints of the SDGs for doctral cource stutents who have various nationalities and study various subjects. by the following steps.
1) Learn about "important facts" by UNDP.
2) Field survey in rural area of Hiroshima Prefecture from the socio-economic viewpoints.
3) Discus about socio-economic problems of rural area with workshops.
4) Make some proposals for rural communities and give presenteitions of them to poeple who live there.

Practical Experience Experienced  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it You will be given lectures by professors who have practical experiences at local government office or a federation of agricultural cooperatives in Japan, regarding as food, agriculture and rural policy based on the thought of SDGs.
In addition to it, people who have practical experiences will give us lectures at all places we visit. 
Message Capacity of this class is 15 students on a first-come basis. 
Please fill in the class improvement questionnaire which is carried out on all classes.
Instructors will reflect on your feedback and utilize the information for improving their teaching.
