This course is one of the elective subjects in the category of "Sustainable Development Courses" for Common Graduate Courses. This category of courses aims to provide opportunities for students to understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set by an international agreement. It also aims to equip students with the ability to advance science to enable sustainable development and the ability to solve various challenges in society.

The students are (1) to understand the idea of diversity and inclusion in terms of gender, sexuality, cultural background, and other factors in lectures, (2) to learn about challenges and solutions in real situations through workshops and (3) to envision how to build and live in a diverse and inclusive society. 
Class Schedule Intensive two-day lectures
The lectures will be held over two days (August 5 and 7).

Day 1
- Lesson 1-4: lectures on diversity and inclusion in schools and workplaces
Day 2
- Lesson 5-6: hearing about the experiences of people active in society
- Lesson 7-8: exchanging views and sharing ideas toward the realization of a diverse society

Review
The students are expected to review what they have learned in the lectures on the first day so that the following exchanging views on the second day will be fruitful. They are also expected to have their own career plan before the exchanging of views on the second day. 
Requirements On the second day, students will visit multinational companies in Higashi-Hiroshima City. Transportation between Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and the companies to be visited will be provided by chartered bus, and transportation fee (about 1,000 JPY) will be collected after the class on the first day.
