Class Objectives

For university students, learning techniques to write academic writing in Japanese may be essential. In this class, you will learn the basics of academic writing. 
Class Schedule lesson1 “The structure of paragraph”  The important point for writing scientific writing is to learn how to assemble paragraphs. Paragraph consists of topic sentence, supporting sentences, conclusion sentence. Of particular importance is learning how to use topic sentence.
lesson2 ”Composition of Reports or Research papers”  There are three important factors in the documents: key question, argument, and evidence.. You need to learn why these elements are necessary and how they work.
lesson3 ”Quoting”  When writing academic papers, you must verify others' writings and build your own assertions based on that. At that time, it is required to summarize and cite others' writings. In doing so, it is necessary to respect the copyright and correctly quote it.
lesson4 ”Styles pf sentences and punctuation mark”  Learn appropriate styles for academic papers and the rules of punctuation marks.
lesson5 ”Peer review of reports”  Students cross-check the reports.
lesson6 ”The structure of research papers”  Academic papers consist of three elements: introduction, main body, and conclusion.
lesson7 ”Return/Comment of the report”  Summarize the reports and conduct a comprehensive review.
lesson8 ”Techniques for Logic Development; test”  The logical flow is the one of most important points for academic, writing.
