It is positioned as a "thinking about peace" class, which is set as the goal of "peace subjects" from the viewpoint of the field, by independently thinking about various practices related to peace.
Expected Outcome ・ Learn about various practices related to peace and understand the ambiguity of the “concept of peace”.
・ Understand the perspective of cultural anthropology and have each person's discovery to approach peace.

Class Objectives
/Class Outline This lecture considers the theme of "peace" from the perspective of cultural anthropology. Cultural anthropology uses a research method called ethnography to understand society from various practices through fieldwork. In the lecture, concrete representations and practices related to peace such as exhibition of war relics and peace museums, artistic representation of peace such as paintings and movies, significance of tourism in peace, etc. After learning, think about the relationship between "peace" and everyday life.

Review 1. Read "Anthropology of Peace" ( Hiroshi ODA, Yuji SEKI eds. Horusukasha, 2014) in advance to understand the perspective of anthropology of peace.
2. Please thoroughly prepare for the contents of the detailed syllabus for each class distributed in the first guidance. Also, after class, please think about peace based on the contents of the lectures and the materials distributed.

Requirements

Grading Method Comprehensive evaluation based on class participation <comment sheet> (20%), a report on peace (30%), and a final report (50%). Submission of a report on peace (separate instructions) is a prerequisite for credit recognition.

The 3rd term course--> from October 28th to November 7th
