The "Advanced Seminar" will be held to give students opportunities to practically utilize their comprehensive knowledge to create new value and solve problems in society, based on their learning in the "Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students". It is designed for students to cultivate problem-finding and problem-solving skills through the study and discussion of cutting-edge topics and hands-on learning in small classes that transcend school and grade boundaries, and to develop challenge, presentation, and leadership skills. 
Expected OutcomeIn combination with the "Introduction to University Education" and the "Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students", students are expected to:
1. Form an independent learning attitude
2. Improve their problem-finding and problem-solving skills
3. Improve their logical and critical thinking skills
4. Improve their reading comprehension, expression, presentation, and discussion skills
5. Improve their communication and leadership skills 
Class Objectives
/Class Outline
In addition to planning and implementing seminars in the theme exploration program for elementary, junior high, high school, and university connections held at Hiroshima University, it will be also provided guidance and advice on proposed topic exploration in collaboration with students. Through these activities, the aim is to support students' efforts to explore topics, and to develop perspectives on problem exploration and informal education in primary and secondary education.

Lesson 2: Plan for a seminar to explore issues
Lesson 3: Conducting a seminar to explore the planned issues
Lesson 4: Looking back at the seminars we held to explore issues
Lesson 5: Provide advice on theme proposals for children's research activities.
Lesson 6: Collaborate to carry out problem exploration activities for children and students
Lesson 7: Participate in student research presentations and provide advice
Lesson 8: Review and feedback throughout

The implementation timing will be determined according to the progress of the elementary, middle, high school, and university connection program.

Review
A preliminary survey is conducted on the expected lesson content for each class, a review record is created after each class, and outcomes are obtained from feedback. 
Requirements ・Depending on the scale of the elementary, junior high, high school and university connection program, the number of participants will be limited to approximately 10 people.
・A seminar briefing session will be held in advance (scheduled for June), so students who wish to attend must attend.
・In addition to "Student Education and Research Disaster and Accident Insurance", participation in "Gakkensai Incidental Liability Insurance" is required for the activities of the expansion seminar. 
Grading Method Evaluation will be based on the status of submission of review records each time, participation and advice at research presentation sessions, and status of planning and support for students throughout the extended seminar.
Evaluation will be based on pass/fail only, and there will be no five-level evaluation.

Message This is an expanded seminar that provides a great opportunity to experience and get a feel for the overall picture of research activities that take place in schools. We hope that you will actively participate in this course, including students who want to interact with children based on their own experience in inquiry activities, and students who aspire to be teachers who want to demonstrate their strengths in teaching problem-based inquiry.
