The "Advanced Seminar" will be held to give students opportunities to practically utilize their comprehensive knowledge to create new value and solve problems in society, based on their learning in the "Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students". It is designed for students to cultivate problem-finding and problem-solving skills through the study and discussion of cutting-edge topics and hands-on learning in small classes that transcend school and grade boundaries, and to develop challenge, presentation, and leadership skills. 
Expected OutcomeIn combination with the "Introduction to University Education" and the "Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students", students are expected to:
1. Form an independent learning attitude
2. Improve their problem-finding and problem-solving skills
3. Improve their logical and critical thinking skills
4. Improve their reading comprehension, expression, presentation, and discussion skills
5. Improve their communication and leadership skills 
Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Geological information such as rocks, minerals, and fossils is basic information closely related not only to earth science but also to regional geography and history. In this class, students will participate in a field trip and will observe and record geological outcrops, and then create a digital educational material as a final report, with the goal of understanding the diversity of geological information.

No final exam. A digital educational material must be submitted as a report.

Students will participate in the field trip of the lecture "Field Excursion for Earth Science A" by the Department of Earth and Planetary Systems, Faculty of Science. The destination and schedule are to be decided after the start of the course year.

In addition to observing outcrops, students will take photos/videos with smartphones and other devices to create a digital educational material. Participants will analyze the findings from their observations based on their own expertise and interests, and then submit the digital educational material as a final report.

Drones and a 360-degree camera owned by the department may be used. Students who wish to use a drone will be given flight training on campus prior to the field trip.

Preparation and
Review
Before the field trip, read through the material for the lecture "Field Excursion for Earth Science A" that will be sent to you. Also, plan what kind of digital teaching materials you will create. 
Requirements Actual expenses such as transportation will be required. Students are required to have "Liability Insurance coupled with Gakkensai". In principle, students are required to prepare the software necessary for creating digital teaching materials. If a drone or 360-degree camera owned by the department is to be used, please let us know as soon as possible. 
Grading Method The following are the requirements for grading.
(1) Participate in all field trips
(2) Submit a digital educational material
Evaluation will be on a pass/fail basis only, and will not be on a 5-step evaluation.
