Class Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide student with an overview of fundamental instruction methods for children with health impairments and an explanation of the necessity of a collaborative system between education and medical care, based on the understanding of those children in need of education support.
 
Class Schedule 1. Understanding children with health impairments: concerns & anxiety, diseases, place for education, health impairments & physical impairments, and their understanding of health impairments

2. Education for children with health impairments (1): meaning of  education for children with health impairments, curriculum design, individual teaching plan, etc.

3.  Education for children with health impairments (2): Home-visiting teaching, interactive education, teaching system, and evaluation, etc.

4. Subject teaching in education for children with health impairments(1):points to keep in mind, ICT education, progress, understanding of their learning situation, etc.

5. Subject teaching in education for children with health impairment (2): Hands-on learning and ideas for teaching with practical work, vocational training, teaching system and evaluation, etc.

6. Moral in education for children with health impairments: Ideas for teaching contents of moral education, etc.

7. Special activities in education for children with health impairments: Classroom activities (HR), school events, student council activities, and career guidance

8. Autonomous activities in education for children with health impairments (1): Teaching contents of autonomous activities, individual teaching plan, etc.

9.Autonomous activities in education for children with health impairments(2): Teaching system and evaluation, cooperation with medial institutions(PT・OT・ST), etc.

10. Periods for integrated studies in education for children with health impairments: Teaching contents in periods for integrated studies, aims of periods for integrated studies in education for children with health impairments, etc.

11. Instruction for children with multiple disabilities (1): Objectives and contents of teaching, ideas to enhance children's communication ability, and others

12. Instruction for children with multiple disabilities(2): Objectives and contents of the instruction, approach to their bodies, concerns of transmission, and cooperation with a hospital ward

13. Utilization of multimedia in education for children with health impairments: its meaning, etc.

14. Cooperation between education and medical care: Establishment of a cooperative system with doctors, nurses, and other medical occupations, key points of the cooperation,  case conference

Requirements This is a required course that corresponds to the Teachers License Act (Teacher Certification for Special Needs School).
