This course aims to explain the psychological and physiological characteristics of young children with developmental disabilities such as learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, high-functioning autism, and Asperger's syndrome, and to deepen understanding of appropriate assessment and support for such children as well as curriculum and curriculum management. 
Class Schedule Lesson 1: Learning disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, high functioning autism, Asperger's syndrome, and emotional disorders (overview)
Lesson 2: History of support for children with developmental disroder in association with the transition from special education to special needs education and curriculum for children with developmental disorder
Lesson 3: Understanding and supporting learning disorder
Lesson 4: Understanding and supporting attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Lesson 5: Understanding and supporting emotional disorder
Lesson 6: Understanding and supporting high functioning autism and Asperger's syndrome
Lesson7: Psychology, physiology, and pathology of children with developmental disorder and emotional disorder
Lesson 8:  How actual conditon should be grapsed:Interpretation of assessment and utilization of assessment
Lesson 9: Developing a lesson for children with developmental disorderHow support by parents and a classroom should be
Lesson 10:  How social skill training is actually provided for children with developmental disorders

The class will be based on handouts, so no textbook will be used. However, it is recommended to refer to the following reference books as appropriate, as they will aid understanding of the class.

Review handouts and your notebook and ask questions in the following class if you have any. Materials for the following lesson will be uploaded on the WebCT. Students must print them out and bring them to the lesson.
 
Requirements For students in the Program in Special Needs School Teacher Education: This is a course that corresponds to Section 3 of Teachers License Act.
For student in Cluster 2 to 5: This course is for those who wish to obtain a teaching certificate for elementary schools.

 
Grading Method The evaluation will be based on the overall evaluation of participation in the discussion (60%) and the content of the presentation (40%).
