Class Objectives /Class Outline |
Through this course, students will learn the mechanism of brain and nervous systems and physiology, from development through delivery, and have discussions on disorders of sense organ and motor functions and emotional disorders in childhood. Also this course will provide the students with an explanation of disorders in development stage, fetal stage, and perinatal stage, resulting from a genetic factor, a fetus, a mother body, and an environmental factor, etc. Furthermore, this course will introduce the latest findings of prenatal diagnosis and various diseases, and provide a fundamental medical knowledge necessary for teachers who are engaged in special needs education. |

Requirements |
"・-Consult with your facilitator if you are not in the Program in Special Needs School Teacher Education. ・・ This course can be a substitute for either of the following courses for students who entered the university before the academic year 2009: ‘Visual Physiology & Pathology (required)’, ‘ Hearing Impairment Physiology & Pathology(required)’, ‘Intellectual Disability Physiology & Pathology (required), and ‘ Physical Disability Physiology & Pathology (required)’. You are required to take three required courses out of the four. If you have taken only two of those, you must take this course. If you have taken only one or none of those courses, you must consult with your facilitator. " |
Grading Method |
Students will be evaluated based on reports (to be evaluated based on the learning level of the fundamentals of cerebrum physiology & pathology and causes of disabilities which are required knowledge to engage in special needs education) and class performance. |
