Class Objectives

The objective of this class is to understand electrical and control aspects of biological systems, especially, sensory, information processing and motor control properties of humans are focused on in this course.
Students should be able to understand bioelectrical engineering as well as human factors engineering.

lesson 2: Measurement and application of bioelectric signals
lesson 3: Human body as an electrical control system
lesson 4: Properties of sensory system and modeling (1): visual sense
lesson 5: Properties of sensory system and modeling (2): auditory sense
lesson 6: Properties of cetral nervous system and modeling (1): brainstem-spinal cord system and cerebral limbic system
lesson 7: Properties of cetral nervous system and modeling (2): neocortical system
lesson 8: Properties of motor control system and modeling (1): structure of motor control system
lesson 9: Properties of motor control system and modeling (2): spinal reflex system and musculoskeletal system
lesson 10: Substitution for motor functions
lesson 11: Substitution for brain functions (1): neuron model and neural network
lesson 12: Substitution for brain functions (2): cerebellar perceptron model and neural network
lesson 13: Brain function and human error
lesson 14: Medical application of bioelectrical engineering
lesson 15: Development of next-generation vehicles based on bioelectrical engineering

Four mini-exams will be given, and the term-end exam will be held. Also, students are required to submit a report.

Requirements  
Grading Method Up to 75 points for the term-end examination and weekly class attendance.
