First Experiment : Guidance of Experimental
Second Experiment- : Experimental of each Theme
1. Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (MOS) processes Week 1. -Fabrication process of MOS transistors in clean room (1) : Wafer cleaning, Thermal oxidation. : Thermal oxidation model and its simulation.
Week 2 and 3. -Fabrication process of MOS transistors in clean room (2) and its evaluations. : Thermal evaporation, Photo lithography, Impurity diffusion, Etching, and Principle of process equipment. : Electrical measurements and evaluation of PN diodes and MOS structure.
Week 4. -Electrical measurement of fabricated devices. : Measurement and evaluation of fabricated transistor and understanding of its operation.
2. Optimization algorithms and methods 1st experiment: fundamentals of mathematical programming and its complexity, fundamentals of genetic algorithm and its applications to mathematical programming problems 2nd experiment: fundamentals of particle swarm optimization and its applications to mathematical programming problems 3rd experiment: fundamentals of ant colony optimization and its applications to mathematical programming problems Last experiment: comparative discussion with benchmark problems
3. Laser and Optical Communication Experiment 1 -Characteristics of the semiconductor laser diodes and total reflection -Experiments mentioned above will be performed through discussion among the group members. Experiment 2 -Surface plasmon resonance and transmission characteristics of optical fibers -Experiments mentioned above will be performed through discussion among the group members. Experiment 3 -Polarization of light radiating from the semiconductor lasers and voice transmission by using two orthogonalized polarized light -Experiments mentioned above will be performed through discussion among the group members. Experiment 4 -Wavelength division multiplexing -Experiments mentioned above will be performed through discussion among the group members. Reports should be submitted at the beginning of each 2nd-4th class. They should include the experiments performed in all classes. |

Prepare or Review for Fundamental Electrical and Electronic Theory
1. MOS process Read a text book to understand the process flow in advance. Review the current-voltage and capacitance-voltage measurement.
2. Optimization algorithms and methods Prepare (or review) for "mathematical programming", "genetic algorithm", "particle swarm optimization" and "ant colony optimization". Students are required to choose the right costume for this experiment. |

No late arrivals or absences will be permitted due to group practical work. |

Participation and quality of report. Attendance at all experiments and submission of all reports are prerequisites for credit. |
