Class Objectives /Class Outline |
The purpose of the machining training is to learn how to actually operate machine tools and process parts shown in blueprints with the required dimensions and accuracy. In addition to learning about various machining methods, students are also able to learn how to design machines. ・Understand the importance of learning various mechanics, mechanical materials, machining, etc. necessary for manufacturing. 1. Learn about work safety when using machine tools (D) 2. Learn the basic operations of machine tools (D) 3. Be able to determine the machine tools and techniques required to process parts written on blueprints (D) |
Class Schedule |
lesson1: Introduction to shop safety and operation of machine tools. lesson2: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson3: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson4; Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson5: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson6: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson7: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson8: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson9: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson10: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson11: Machine shop training. (Machining the parts of gear pump) lesson12: Casting and introduction to machine tool operation. (Video) lesson13: Lectures and basic operation on machine tools unused in Lesson 2-11.(Other machines) lesson14: Assembly and adjustment of gear pump. Report guidance. lesson15: Driving evaluation of gear pump.
After all lessons are completed, students will be required to submit the report for weeks 3-13.
In lesson 2-5, the students are divided into five groups, and have practical training for two classes as follows: 1. Machine tool I (Turning, Gear cutting, Wire electrical discharge machining) 2. Machine tool II (Vertical milling, Plain milling) 3. NC Machine (Machining center, NC turning) 4. Hand finishing (Scribing, Drill pressing, Filing) 5. Welding (Electric-arc welding) |

Suggestions on Preparation and Review |
Please study the text book before practical training. Make corrections to the report as instructed. |
Requirements |
Machine Shop Training (a) and (b) are same in the content. To have class with small group, one grade is divided to two groups (Approximately 80 people in each group), and the each group is divided to class (a) and (b), again. Therefore, the student must take only one class, either Machine Shop Training (a) or (b). |
Grading Method |
The students are required to attend all class and to submit the report. The grading is accomplished by behavior in the class and submitted report. |
Practical Experience |
Experienced
|
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it |
Machining of structural materials is part of research.Introducing research during practical training. |
Message |
This subject is a specialized (basic) subject of the Production System Engineering Course, Energy Engineering Course, Design Engineering Course, and Intelligent Mechanical Engineering Course of the Faculty of Engineering, Category 1 (Mechanical Systems Engineering). The symbol (D) shown at the end of each item in ``Class Goals'' represents each item in the first category of goals (see the URL below for details). https://www.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/mec/kouichi/about/ |
Other |
After second lesson, preparation of Work Hat, clothe, trouse. Details will be explained in the first lesson. |
Please fill in the class improvement questionnaire which is carried out on all classes. Instructors will reflect on your feedback and utilize the information for improving their teaching. |
