This lecture aims to master the fundamental theory of rock deformation and Earth Tectonics.

lesson2 principal axis of stress, plain stress and force balance
lesson3 derivation of Mohr's stress circle
lesson4 friction and failure, angle of internal friction, failure criterion
lesson5 relationship between stress field and type of fault, brittle shear zone, "Riedel shear plane"
lesson6 finite strain and strain elipsoid, "Flin diagram", ductile shear zone
lesson7 strength profile of lithosphere and deformation of island-arc crust, lateral displacement tectonics
lesson8 fold and fold mechanism
lesson9 deformation structure of rock and determination of shear sence
lesson10 water control for rock failure and abnormal fluid pressure
