This lecture introduces the base knowledge of the structure and function for bioploymers (especially protein and nucleic acid).  The spectroscopic and crystallographic analysis of biopolymers are also introdued.  
Class Schedule Chap.1 Introduction of the Structural biology by chemical method.
Chap.2 The properties of 20 amino acids as a component of protein.
Chap.3 Structure and function of proteins.
Chap.4 Hierarchy of the protein structures.
Chap.5 Primary and secondary structure (alpha-helix, beta-sheet, etc). Denaturation of the protein.
Chap.6 Domain structure and subunit structure of protein.
Chap.7 Nucleoside and Nucleotide.
Chap.8 DNA and RNA.
Chap.9 Base sequence and translation.
Chap.10-12 Spectroscopy for structural biology.
  (UV, IR, MS, CD, NMR)
Chap.13-15 Crystallography for structural biology.
  (crystallization, strong x-ray by synchrotron facility)
Chap.16 Final examination.
