This lecture introduces the base knowledge of the structure and function for bioploymers (especially protein and nucleic acid). The spectroscopic and crystallographic analysis of biopolymers are also introdued. |

Chap.1 Introduction of the Structural biology by chemical method. Chap.2 The properties of 20 amino acids as a component of protein. Chap.3 Structure and function of proteins. Chap.4 Hierarchy of the protein structures. Chap.5 Primary and secondary structure (alpha-helix, beta-sheet, etc). Denaturation of the protein. Chap.6 Domain structure and subunit structure of protein. Chap.7 Nucleoside and Nucleotide. Chap.8 DNA and RNA. Chap.9 Base sequence and translation. Chap.10-12 Spectroscopy for structural biology. (UV, IR, MS, CD, NMR) Chap.13-15 Crystallography for structural biology. (crystallization, strong x-ray by synchrotron facility) Chap.16 Final examination. |
