This course provides a clear and comprehensive introduction to the study of organizations and organizational phenomena.  Besides different core concepts useful for analyzing and understanding organizations, the lecturer introduces how to theorize organizational phenomena by using the multi-perspective and interdisciplinary approaches.  This course also welcomes students who are interested in social theories, philosophy, critical theory, sociology, cultural studies, and postmodernism.   The topic relating to business ethics whose roots go back to the foundation of Western civilization is also concluded.

reading assignments in English for every lecture 
Requirements A standard textbook in English-speaking countries will be used. This means that it does not include any practical contents for businesses in Asia including Japan. In order to convey and explain the accurate meaning and nuances of organizational theory in English, the instructor will standardize the terminology in English. Lectures will be given in a mixture of Japanese and English. The original textbook to be used has approximately 350 pages, and the translated version has approximately 550 pages.
