By studying basic issues of social research, students will be able to consider critically reports of social research conducted by the media.

lesson 1 Students must understand the aims and construction of this class.

lesson 2-4 Students must grab the image of effectiveness and limitations of qualitative research and quantitative research.

lesson 5 Students will study about main issues of questionnaire.

lesson 6 Students will study about methods of sampling.

lesson 7-10 Students will study about basic statistics, such as mean, variance, standard deviation, which are indispensable to following lessons. Students will also study about standard methods of quantitative research, such as contingency table, sampling, statistical test.

lesson 11-14 Students will learn about classical case studies of social researches and be able to find some applied methods ever learned in them.

lesson 15  Overall review will be presented.
