As an expansion course, students will acquire the elementary skills for understanding, interpreting, evaluating and developing art education practice both in school and society while learning the thoughts and history of art education, and increasing interest and understanding art education.

This course explores various thoughts on arts education in Japan and other countries, with a focus on its history. While examining theories and practices based on educational thoughts, the course will attempt to discuss today's art education in order to acquire knowledge as an art teacher and/or practitioner.

Requirements The number of the students may be limited due to class size or conditions of school facilities. Applicants for this course who are not enrolled in Art Education program need to be approved by the instructor in advance.

Message Aside from lectures, students are required to conduct research and create artwork as assignments with a lot of time consuming work. Students' active attitude to coping with the assignments are appreciated.
