§1
Prior to the first lesson, retrieve reference literature on your own beforehand. read the relevant parts in the musical dictionaries, etc.
§2-§5
  Check the contents of the lesson with the textbook and the reference books, and catch the actual situations of Gagaku as much as possible. And also with audio-visual materials, etc. it is desirable to experience Gagaku performances.
§6-§8
 In principle, same as Gagaku. There are enormous numbers of literatur and theatrial publications regarding the Noh performance. In this course, you should forcus on musical reference books and confirm the contents of the lesson.

§9-12
 Retrieve reference literature on your own beforehand. read the relevant parts in the musical dictionaries, etc. And practice work of Koto starts in semester 5, so in accordance with your interests, I recommend it to you as possible option in the future.
§13-§15
 There are enormous numbers of literatur and theatrial publications regarding the Noh performance. In this course, you should forcus on musical reference books and confirm the contents of the lesson with the textbooks and the music dictionaries. And with audio-visual materials, etc. it is desirable to experience Kabuki, Nagauta.
 When you have questions, I would like to answer it in class.
 
Requirements Recheck the outline of Japanese history (particularly cultural history) that you have learnt when you were a junior or high school student before taking class. And you should review classic literature as well.
 
Grading Method Based on Comment sheets and Term-end report, in principle.

Message To appreciate Japanese traditional music and music in other Asian countries, apart from western aesthetic consciousness and values, it is important to approach the music with an open heart. I would like students to make opportunities actively on their own to absorb and accumulate any music aggressively, and do their best.
