The purpose of this course is to introduce basic theories when considering culture and society, especially focusing on knowledge in the fields of cultural sociology and historical sociology. Starting from events of daily life, we would like to consider how we can understand cultural and social phenomena.  We aim to cultivate wisdom rather than knowledge. Think flexibly.

Focusing not on memorizing but on thinking, I would like to emphasis not only intelligence, but also wisdom. In accordance with student's understanding level, I would like to change the progress speed, so that we might not cover all topics.

Requirements Bring a B5 loose-leaf notebook; students in this class will be often asked to write your opinions in such a notebook. 
Grading Method Students attending this class are required to take a three-hour writing test in Japanese.
