The purpose of this program is to acquire basic knowledge about Japanese education and cultural activities overseas. Additionally, participants are expected to improve their ability to analyze culture subjectively.

Class Objectives
/Class Outline
In order for those involved in Japanese language education to acquire the methods of cultural understanding and basic knowledge about Japanese culture, they learn about modern Japanese migration to foreign countries and educational and cultural activities on the spot. Since the Meiji Restoration, Hiroshima Prefecture has also sent many overseas immigrants. Japanese immigrants live in Hawaii, the U.S. mainland, Mexico, Brazil, Korea, Manchuria, and Southeast Asia. The students learn about when, where, and what kind of work Japanese people have moved to, and what kind of educational and cultural activities they have carried out in their countries and regions. Through such learning, it aims to acquire the ability to think independently and analytically about "culture".

Lesson 2: Geopolitical Positioning of the "Japanese Culture": Western Shock and Japanese Shock;
Lesson 3: Travelling overseas and Immigration of Modern Japanese;
Lesson 4: The History of Education and Cultural Activities with Japanese in Hawaii;
Lesson 5: The History of Education and Cultural Activities with Japanese in the U.S. mainland;
Lesson 6: The History of Education and Cultural Activities with Japanese in Latin America;
Lesson 7: The History of Education and Cultural Activities with Japanese in Brazil (1908-1945);

Lesson 8: The History of Education and Cultural Activities with Japanese in Brazil (1945-present age);
Lesson 9: The History of Education and Cultural Activities with Japanese in Asia-Pacific region;
Lesson 10:  Global History through the Migrant Vessels Exchanges (Coffee, Pepper, Tea);
Lesson 11: War and the Japanese Overseas (Nikkeis);
Lesson 12: Reconstruction of Japan after the WW II and Japanese Overseas (Nikkeis);
Lesson 13:  Contemporary World and Japanese Overseas (Nikkeis);
Lesson 14: Group work (1): Theme setting for feedback of lessons and reports;
Lesson 15: Group work (2): Oral presentation of report content.

""Knowledge & Comprehension is evaluated on ""short report"" in the period. ""Comprehension evaluation"" is evaluated on mainly final report.
Not more than 5 day absences, otherwise you will be excluded from the evaluation."
