Class Objectives /Class Outline |
You are expected to acquire the basic knowledge of curriculum development and syllabus design in the field of teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). In order to achieve this basic objective, this course specifically focuses on ALTs' (Assistant Language Teachers') working conditions in Japanese classrooms. Also, the course encourages you to further develop your ability to explain some specific aspects that may underline Japanese educational system including "Hidden Curriculum." |

Try to come up with some good questions that will deepen your understanding of the main textbook (Feiler). In each class, you are supposed to share your questions with your classmates so that you will be able to create better questions for in-depth reading. Also, you are to pick some key terms representing "Hidden Curriculum" in Japanese education and then to explain them in English. |

Although you may not be familiar with ELT curricula, I would like you to take classes while considering how English classes are positioned and what role they play in school education. The instruction language is mainly Japanese. Teaching materials include both Japanese and English languages. |
