Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The most important objective is to enjoy literature written in English. To enjoy it, you need to understand what is written in the original text. You are required to tackle "difficult" English, using your English dictionary. We'll also examine the ways in which we can combine literature and EFL. 
Class Schedule lesson1:Dealing with Beowulf, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, and Wordsworth's The Daffadils, we try to know how English has changed historically.
lesson2:Dealing with T. S. Eliot's "The Waste Land," we examine what inter-textuality means.
lesson3:William Shakespeare in the English textbooks authorized by the Janapnese government
lesson4:Shakespeare's Macbeth
lesson5:Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet
lesson6: Introduction to Charles Dickens
lesson7: Dickens's Oliver Twist (opening part of the story)
lesson8: Dickens's Oliver Twist (middle part of the story)
lesson9: Dickens's Oliver Twist (ending part of the story)
lesson10: We examine the ways in which we can use Dickens's Oliver Twist in Japanese high schools.
