Class Objectives

In order to enhance the qualities that contribute to the development of ethical contents in junior high school “Social Studies” and high school “Civics,” we will discuss and research contemporary issues related to ethics, especially through reading domestic and foreign literature on contemporary ethics. Through this research, we aim to acquire specialized research skills in contemporary ethics, as well as the ability to research and develop teaching materials for social study education and ethics education (moral education).

Focus on presentations, no exams

In this class, students will read basic and cutting-edge literature on contemporary ethics and will report research on related content. The selected literature will be decided by taking into consideration the wishes of the students.

The class is a seminar style (every time, you will be asked to make a research report and then have a question-and-answer session). Videos are also used if necessary for understanding (10-25 minutes per session). The text will be decided after consultation. References will be given as appropriate during class.

Review
The person in charge of the research report should obtain instructions from the instructor or TA regarding the selected materials and prepare for discussions before writing the resume. After the class is over, the person in charge of the research report should check the class content, reaffirm the assignment, and read the related books to deepen their understanding. 
Requirements It is desirable to have taken either “Research on Modern Ethics” (3rd semester), “Ethics” (4th semester), or “Research on Applied Ethics” (5th semester). 
Grading Method I'll evaluate you from attendance, reading, the report of investigation on materials, the report on subject, and others.
