Class Objectives
/Class Outline
We will study, in this lecture, real process of technological manufacturing. Each participant is going to producing an original designed mechanical balance using metals. By the process, the participants will be experienced a variety of know-hows which are indispensable for real process of producing innovative product.
A real technological manufacturing contains the whole PDCA cycle, that is, it must be based on clear objective (Plan), must be produced by reproducible process of designing, drawing and processing (Do), the performance of the product is checked and revised (Check), then the result is presented and discussed (design review, Action). We will study such PDCA cycle in the lecture.
Class Schedule 1st lecture: Overview. Product planning and Specification design.
2nd lecture: Designing basic mechanisms used to be used for the product.
3rd lecture: Completing product specification and presentation.
4th lecture: Parts designing (1).
5th lecture: Parts designing (2).
6th lecture: Completing product design and drawing (submit to teacher). Processing (1).
7th lecture: Processing (2).
8th lecture: Processing (3).
9th lecture: Processing (4).
10th lecture: Product assembly.
11th lecture: Checking product performance and problem finding.
12th lecture Revising problems and re-assembly (1).
13th lecture Revising problems and re-assemble (2).
14th lecture: Design review. Presentation and discussion.

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
You don't need preparation and review for class. But, we can give you an additional practical training in the case you haven't completed your work in the designated time.

Requirements Because you set working as a main subject, and I'll teach the first step on design, drawing, and plastic deformation mainly in the style of practical training, important things are addressing positively and absorbing the base of working physically. "The attitude to absorb greedily" and "the attitude to ask a question" are always very important to practice this.
Grading Method I'll evaluate you from reports and products.
Practical Experience Experienced
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it I have experiences of being mechanical design engineer in an industrial machinery company (in Japan), and being teacher in subject of mechanical engineering in Costa Rica as a member of JOCV (Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers). The classes in Costa Rica were conducted in Spanish. Thanks to these experiences, I can provide a wide variety of teaching materials fit for participants having distinct backgrounds and knowledge levels.
