It is extremely important to use tools properly when making things with wood. The objective of this course is to acquire basic skills to use tools through production work of the subjects. This course is a fundamental subject about monozukuri.
 
Class Schedule Lesson1: Course overview. Explanation of production process.
Lesson2: Concept and design of product. Prototype production.
Lesson3: Review of the design of the product.
Lesson4: Create drawings.
Lesson5: Explanation and practice of Cutting layout.
Lesson6: Explanation and practice of sawing.
Lesson7: Practice of sawing.
Lesson8: Explanation of planing. Alignment of planes.
Lesson9: Practice of planing.
Lesson10: Practice of parts processing.
Lesson11: Explanation of sanding.
Lesson12: Explanation of assembly.

It is desirable that students prepare and review the lesson in reference to the Class Schedule.
Lesson 1: Reading the syllabus.
Lessons 2 and 3: Check the theme and make preparations.
Lesson 4: Check the drafting method.
Lesson 5: Check the scribing method.
Lessons 6 and 7: Check the method of sawing.
Lessons 8 to 10: Check the method of planing.
Lesson 11: Check the polishing method.
Lessons 12 and 13: Check the assembly method.
Lesson 14: Check the finishing method.
Lesson 15: Looking back at the good points and areas for improvement in the series of processes. 
Requirements Students who have already taken "Introduction to Woodworking".
(It is not applicable to the case for the students who transferred to this university.) 
Grading Method Students will be comprehensively assessed by behavior in class (15%), precision of the manufactured product (15%), and reports (70%).
