Class Objectives

The theme of this course is to understand an overview of characteristics of psychology, physiological, and pathological characteristics of speech and language disorders, and education curricula for them such as LD, and instruction methods for them. Particularly, the course aims to deepen understanding of appropriate evaluation and support for school children with speaking and language disorders.

Lesson 5: Psychology throughout the life of people with Speech/language disorders

Lesson 7: Overview of special support services in resource rooms
Lesson 8: History of education for children with speech/language disorders
Lesson 9: Speech-Language-Hearing Therapist and its cooperation/collaboration
Lesson 10: Parents' psychology and Parents' association for raising children with speech/language disorders and its cooperation/collaboration
Lesson 11: Individual Educational Support Plan for education, Individual Teaching Plan and Curriculum Management for children with speech/language disorders

Review
This is the only course about education for children with speech and language disorders. Every lesson will cover a lot of contents. Please make sure to review the contents covered in the class. Lesson materials will be uploaded on the WebCT. You must print them out and bring them to the lessons.
 
Requirements For students in the Program in Special Needs School Teacher Education, this is a course that corresponds to Section 3 of Teachers License Act.
This course targets 3rd year students of the Program in Special Needs School Teacher Education and the Program in Elementary School Teacher Education.  
Grading Method Students will be evaluated based on class participation (active sharing of opinions and asking questions in class and on a comment note)(10%), assignment(30%), reports(45%), and learning outside of class(15%).

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it The faculty member who have experiences of working at public schools and university as a speech-language-hearing therapist introduces practical contents based on their experiences. 
Message There are a wide variety of topics in the field of education for students with speech and language disorders. This courses mainly focuses on potential obstacles you may encounter when you become a teacher in the future.reference book. Because this book is not sold in SEKIKYO, you have to order it by yourself if you want to purchase one.
