The objective of this course is for students to understand the design of a curriculum for children with intellectual disabilities and the development of an annual teaching plan and a course unit plan, and the creation of a teaching plan, to learn, in a practical way, how to make a lesson for children with intellectual disabilities, and to create a teaching plan. |

Suggestions on Preparation and Review |
Lesson1-7: The lessons will cover each items of the textbooks(特別支援学校学習指導要領解説総則等編及び自立活動). You should review and prepare well for the lessons. Lesson8-12: There will be discussions based on handouts. From 13-15: You will create a unit plan and a lesson plan. Read教科書解説書, a reference book to be prepared for the lessons.

This is an elective course that corresponds to Section2 (Curriculum and Teaching methods)of the Teacher Certification for Special Needs School (Education for Children with Intellectual Disabilities) of the Teachers License Act. |
Grading Method |
Students’ learning level of fundamental knowledge and skills for teaching children with intellectual impairments will be evaluated based on class presentation, assignments (teaching plan and lesson plan of a trial lesson’s unit). |
