The purpose of this course is for students to acquire the basic philosophy and teaching methods of autonomous activities provided in special needs schools (hearing impairments) including audiology, pronunciation and speaking coaching, writing and language instruction, self awareness of disability, and sociality development.  
Class Schedule Lesson 1: Reflection about the lesson "Psychology of hearing impairments"
Lesson 2: Meaning and goal setting of auditory learning
Lesson 3: Fundamental skill for auditory learning
Lesson 4: Evaluation of hearing ability for auditory learning
Lesson 5: Activity plan regarding auditory learning for infants and children with hearing impairments
Lesson 6: Presentation and discussion about activity plan regarding auditory learning for infants and children with hearing impairments
Lesson 7: Assessment of reading letters and vocabulary of infants and children with hearing impairments
Lesson 8: Assessment of ability regarding syntax and reading comprehension in children with hearing impairments
Lesson 9: Activity plan for developing phonological awareness and vocabulary of infants and children with hearing impairments
Lesson 10: Presentation and discussion about activity plan for developing phonological awareness and vocabulary of infants and children with hearing impairments
Lesson 11: Practical examples for developing ability regarding syntactic and  reading comprehension of children with hearing impairments
Lesson 12: Summary of language instruction for children with hearing impairments
Lesson 13: Characteristics of pronunciation in children with hearing impairments
Lesson 14:  Pronunciation instructions for children with hearing impairments
Lesson 15: Instruction for developing self-esteem of students with hearing impairments

Requirements This course corresponds to Section2 of the Teachers License Act (Teacher Certification for Special Needs School). It is desirable that students acquire credits for "Psychology of Hearing Impairments" and "Fundamentals of Education for Children with Hearing Impairments" before taking this course. Students are required to fill in an attendance form in every lesson. 
Grading Method Students will be evaluated comprehensively based on commitment to assignments, accomplishment of assignments (10%), contribution in discussions  (10%), and a writing exam or a report (10%).
