To deepen the basic understanding of the teaching contents of social science for elementary schools and acquire the basics of methodologies of how to approach a small research. Specifically, the lecturer will pick up items from social science textbook for elementary schools and explain each of the topics and also explain how to research teaching materials for each topic.

Lesson1: Recall social studies lessons when you were an elementary student.
Lesson2: Recall social studies lessons when you were an elementary student.
Lesson3: Visit MEXT’s website and read the curriculum guideline of social studies for elementary schools.
Lesson4 - : Read a social studies textbook currently being used at elementary schools and deepen understanding of each  chapter. Think how you can teach social studies to children.
 
Requirements The students of this course will be divided into two classes. For this academic year, both of the classes will cover the same contents. Follow the instructions for class specification.
 
Grading Method Attending specified number of lessons or more is a prerequisite. Students will be evaluated comprehensively based on attendance, final exam, and reports.
