It is aimed to acquire basic knowledge of the role in children’s character- building, target, contents, and teaching methods of Art and Handicraft in elementary school education.

Class Objectives
/Class Outline
In this course, students analyze and studies practical examples regarding ‘ expressing’ and ‘ viewing’ of Art and Handicraft to understand how the target of Art and Handicraft is expressed in the actual lessons from the aspects of ‘ teaching contents’, ‘ teaching methods’, and ‘ evaluation’. The students also understand the basics of formative activities for disabled children and think about the meaning of art education essential for character building.

Lesson1: Read the curriculum guideline of arts and crafts for elementary schools published by MEXT.
Lesson2-11: A small assignment will be given at each lesson. Write a report and memos about created works.
Lesson11-14: Collect and analyze relevant materials from a teacher’s book for arts and craft education. Create a teaching plan in consideration of group study on materials.
Lesson15: Summarize what you learned through this course to be prepared for an exam.

 
Requirements Specialized course in teaching: Teaching methods of school subject(arts and crafts)
 
Grading Method Students will be evaluated comprehensively based on portfolio, reports, creation notebook, lesson plans, teaching contents research, final exam, and contribution in class.
