In this lecture, you will learn about the history of Japan Korea relations from the Middle Ages to especially modern period. My goal is to be able to grasp the current situation between Japan and Korea, from the behavior of people in the past. This lecture will be a success if it gives you an opportunity to think about how the awareness of Korean has been formed in your own mind.

lesson1: "What are the Humanities?" Prepare yourself for the question.
lesson2: You may review about The Bunroku-Keicho War / Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. You will also think about the relationship between the Japanese shogunate and the Korean dynasty.
lesson3: Learn about Japan's understanding of Korea from Early-modern times, and the "Seikan ron".
lesson4: You may Consider how to position the opening of Korean ports and the Sino-Japanese War in the international situation surrounding East Asia since the 19th century.
lesson5: In this lesson follows Japan's relationship with Korea after the Sino-Japanese War up to the annexation of Korea and Japan in 1910. because It is the core of `Modern Korean History,' it will be easier to understand if you read the overview.
lesson6: Learn about the `Military Rule Period', that was introduced into the Korean rule system after the annexation of Korea, and The `3.1 independence movement' that emerged in protest.
lesson7: Learn about the Korean governing system of `Cultural Rule Period` introduced after 1920.
lesson8: Learn about `Naosen ittai`(included in assimilation and discrimination). And Think about these questions, "what is the modern?" "Is modernization good?".
lesson9: You may imagine Korean residents in Japan on colonial period.
lesson10: Learn about the nationalism. Also learn about false rumors that occur during natural disasters, especially the massacre of Koreans in Japan during the Great Kanto Earthquake.
lesson11:Check the news about the Korean "comfort women" problem.
lesson12: Learn about the postwar division of the Korean Peninsula. In particular, research on postwar Japan-South Korea relations and the 1965 Japan-Korea Treaty.
lesson13: Learn about the historical process in Japan-North Korea relations after the war, also learn the history of the abduction problem.
lesson14: Research to the Dokdo/Takeshima problem from a historical and international legal perspective, and consider your own views.
lesson15: You would like to summarize your thoughts on how to deal with Korea in the future.
