Students taking this cource will learn the history of modern western philosophy from Continental Rationalism and Empirism to Kant with special regard to the topics: Substance, Causality/Freedom, Selfidentity.

Lesson1: Students are required to do their own research on what modernity is.
Lesson 2: Review the various views of cognition and truth to grasp the pros and cons of each view.
Lesson 3-14: Review the various philosophers' positions on the topics to be discussed so that you can grasp the merits and demerits of each philosopher's position.
Lesson 15: Review for the final exam to understand the organic linkage of the entire class.
