Class Objectives /Class Outline |
Learn how to use knowledge of cultural anthropology and related fields to understand issues related to disease and disability, gender, violence, and power in the contemporary world. Students will be asked to join discussions based on case studies concerning global health. |

Lesson 1: Methods and theories of ethnography Lesson 2: Thinking about the intersection of health, gender, and violence Lessons 3–4: Case study one reading and discussion Lessons 5–8: Case study two reading and discussion
*Case study one focuses on the HPV vaccination program targeting scheduled tribes in India. Case study two concerns the HPV controversy in Japan.
