Critically understanding rural decline, rural revitalization, and their related phenomena as well as current status in different countries and regions. Explaining and applying theories about regional revitalization and sustainable tourism. Providing feasible suggestions on regional problems.

Lesson 3  Individual presentation: Rural revitalization policies and patterns in a selected country or region.
Lesson 4 Theories for regional revitalization
Lesson 5 Regional revitalization and sustainable tourism
Lesson 6 Case study: Newly constructed ancient towns in China and sustainability
Lesson 7 Case study: Continuing traditions and commercializing culture
Lesson 8 Group presentation: Providing possible solutions on specific regional case studies

Lesson 2  Think about why and how to revitalize rural areas.
Lesson 3  Think about a rural area you are familiar with and collect information about its policies and practices about rural revitalization.
Lesson 4 Think about ideal ways for revitalizing rural areas.
Lesson 5 Think about how tourism can play a role in rural revitalization.
Lesson 6 Think about the top-down approach to rural revitalization.
Lesson 7 Think about the bottom-up approach to rural revitalization.
