Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The expansion of higher education is a global phenomenon, and Japan is no exception. While the rise in the number of college graduates raises the question of whether a college degree alone is enough to get a good job, it also highlights the disadvantages of not going to college. If the enrollment rate in higher education increases, will the class gap in access to higher education disappear? This lecture will address these questions from the perspective of comparative sociology. In Comparative Studies of Societies and Culture I, the reality of various disparities in education will be explained through the presentation of rich data based on the results of social surveys and official statistics.
