Class Objectives /Class Outline |
What is human language? How does a child acquire his/her native language without any instruction from teachers? What is happening in the brain when we speak? Can the language we speak shape the way we think? These questions are interesting, though answering them is not so easy. With special reference to English and Japanese, this course will introduce some basic tenets and critical notions of Cognitive Linguistics in order to prepare for conducting further research. |
