The scope of this course encompasses research and theories on acquisition and learning naturalistically and/or with the aid of formal instruction, as adult learners in both second and foreign language settings. We will continuously explore the SLA phenomena, focusing on L2 learner psychology and social ideology in this course.

Review
Make sure you complete all reading assignments (including a summary) prior to the next class. You are strongly encouraged to do online search for any unfamiliar technichal terms and reserach methods to deepen your understanding as much as possible. Please bring your inquires to the next class otherwinse. Also, the questions to be discussed in class are welcomed (, yet please do not expect the instructor to give you answers!.) 
Requirements 1. You must have taken the Foreign Language Acquisition & Communication I to take this course.
2. Upper-intermediate level of English proficiency is required since students are required to read and understand professional journals written and carry class discussion in English (over TOEIC 550). 
Grading Method 1. Class contribution 20%
2. Weekly journal summary 30%
3. In-class final exam 50%
You must submit the journal summary every week. You may lose a chance to take the final exam otherwise.
Your performance will not be adequately evaluated unless you submit all assignments 2, 3, & 4.
