Class Objectives

This course would like to awaken students’ interest in the vast variety of mechanisms at our disposal to convey the compelling urgency of peace. The messengers, and message, of peace could include through environmental activism, business ventures, political action, spiritual, artistic or community work. We will look at examples of different strategies and approaches, and analyze their effectiveness in moving hearts and minds.

There will be debriefing of previous session at start of each class. Students are required to come with brief notes on what they learned.  
Requirements  
Grading Method Participation in class discussions, presentations, and a term research paper. Participation in class discussions is key and will account for a large part of grades. 
Practical Experience Experienced  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it The lecturer has had a long career at the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), designing executive training in developing countries and leading programs and offices in Geneva, New York and Hiroshima. She has also spearheaded a global campaign to share seeds of Hiroshima’s A-Bombed trees, and initiated the Emerging and Developing Economies Network (EDEN).
