In this course, we will experience and learn more about postcolonial culture through literature and movies.
[Goals]
The goals of this course are for students:
-To develop media literacy competencies (ability to evaluate and analyze information);
- To develop their ability to describe in their own words, no matter how inadequate they may seem, what literature, movies, and expressions are; and
- To develop their understanding of others and imagination skills to think about others (what and who the others are), through the encounter of postcolonial culture as other culture.

* Students are encouraged to watch a series of documentary films directed by Michael Moore, prior to class, in order to gain better understanding of American capitalism (military-industrial complex).

Requirements  
Grading Method Evaluation is made on the basis of class attendance (30%), participation and involvement in class (30%) and class assignments and papers (40%).
